His Excellency Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al-Qahtani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, officially inaugurated the first academy session of advanced courses for judges from Qatar’s Supreme Judicial Council. The program, held in cooperation with The Hague Academy of International Law at the Peace Palace in The Hague, marks a significant step in judicial training.

 

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Dr. Al-Qahtani welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of this training in strengthening the partnership between the Supreme Judicial Council and The Hague Academy. He highlighted that this session represents the first concrete outcome of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties. The Ambassador also reaffirmed Doha’s firm commitment to upholding the rule of law and advancing judicial competencies in line with the highest international standards.

 

Ambassador Al-Qahtani explained that this initiative is part of Qatar’s strategic vision to build effective partnerships with leading academic institutions specializing in international law. The collaboration aims to enhance Qatar’s legal standing and facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge.

 

He expressed confidence that the training will equip Qatari judges with the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to contribute effectively to strengthening Qatar’s judicial system and its role in international legal relations.

 

Qatar’s Supreme Judicial Council signed the Memorandum of Understanding with The Hague Academy of International Law in April to provide judges with training on the latest international legal practices. Established in 1923, The Hague Academy is recognized as one of the world’s foremost institutions in public and private international law, arbitration, and dispute resolution. This partnership underscores Qatar’s commitment to keeping pace with legal developments and enhancing its presence in international judicial forums.
